Lori’s Journey: From Tech Leader to Community Advocate
After more than four decades in IT infrastructure and software development, Lori retired in 2023. She worked as a Senior Project and Program Manager for both Fortune 500 companies and smaller tech firms. Looking for a new chapter, she moved to Northwest Washington and dedicated herself to causes close to her heart.
Lori started volunteering with Skagit Gleaners in 2023, and by 2024, she took on a leadership role running the Public Food Distribution program, ensuring those in need have a weekly opportunity to receive free food. She also volunteers with other local and international nonprofit organizations.
Currently, Lori serves as the finance manager for a Toastmasters district in Orange County, CA, an events coordinator for her neighborhood HOA, and a team member for the Salmon in Schools program with the Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group. She also coordinates events for the Washington State Geocaching Association, 48 North Chapter.
Lori is taking a course on orca populations in Puget Sound and, in her free time, enjoys hiking with her neighbors and caring for her dog, Roxy, and her cat, Jasmine.
You can find Lori at the Public Food Distribution in the market on Saturday evenings.
