Meet the Board

  • Vida Clement has worked for over 15 years in print design and web development helping companies build their online presence via websites or web applications.

This is how she became involved with Skagit Gleaners 6 years ago assisting with their website and creating additional print material. She is now helping this year to serve as a board member and is happy to help Skagit Gleaners and their mission. It is a group that has a lot of heart to support the community and the people of Skagit Valley as neighbors and friends.

  • I have been on the Gleaner Board since 2010. I think Gleaners allows us to recycle our food and allows members to benefit from their hours worked and the community we live in.

Ron Wesen was elected in 2008 as District One Skagit County Commissioner for Skagit County. He is a fourth-generation dairy farmer and businessman. Three generations of the extended Wesen family operate an organic centennial dairy farm in the Bow-Edison area of Washington State.

  • Morgan has a bachelor's degree from Western Washington University and a Master's degree from the University of Washington in marine policy planning and management. Morgan has spent her career working for the Federal, State, and Tribal governments supporting endangered species recovery coordination and collaboration in the Puget Sound region. She has staffed as well as served on numerous advisory boards in King and Snohomish Counties as well as at the Puget Sound region. Morgan has been a Skagit Gleaners board member since 2015 and supports the Board in strategic planning and experience in federal and state grants.

    • I retired from being the Executive Director of Skagit Gleaners in June of 2019 and am now serving on the Board of Directors because I believe in their mission and vision. I see the need for practical help in our community and the group of people who participate in the program are empowered to make a difference in their own life through hard work and dedication. In my career, I have founded four successful businesses and have had over 30 years as an entrepreneur. I am now able to volunteer and help start new programs for nonprofits. I have always tried to help people better their lives through personal responsibility and Skagit Gleaners lines up with that philosophy. I am honored to be a part of such a great program that lines up so perfectly with my own values.

  • Amanda Hubik is currently employed by the Washington State House of Representatives as a Legislative Assistant to Representative Alex Ramel, after working with Jeff Morris in 2019. Amanda previously spent four years with the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce as the Marketing and Promotions Director, focusing her time on tourism as the Destination Marketing Organization for Fidalgo Island.

She is an appointed Commissioner for the Anacortes Housing Authority and joined the Skagit Gleaners board in June 2020. She just recently aged out of her fourth & final year on the Skagit Women’s Alliance & Network (SWAN) board, and has been part of the Leadership Skagit Alumni Committee (after graduating with the Class of 2016). She has been a team member of their “Communicating as a Leader” challenge day for two years.

She has volunteered her time on various projects with the Anacortes Arts Festival, Skagit Land Trust, the Skagit Plastic Reduction & Recycling Coalition, and the Skagit County Democrats. In the summer of 2020, Amanda also wrapped up a year of mentoring a UW Psychology student through the WA State Opportunity Scholarship “Skills That Shine” program.

Politically, she managed a successful campaign for Jon Petrich as an Anacortes Port Commissioner in 2017, and she was one of many freeholder candidates during the Skagit County Charter Campaign of 2018. You may have also seen her in various moderator roles, with the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce and the Fidalgo Democrats for candidate forums!

Amanda moved up to Anacortes in May of 2005, after growing up in rural Texas. She holds a degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University. Her hobbies and passions include gardening, permaculture, and food security; painting with oil, watercolor, and acrylic (in that order); impromptu living room dance parties; and making new soup recipes.

DelBene and PSE, Karlee was Land and Water Policy Manager at RE Sources, an environmental organization in Bellingham. Karlee holds a degree in urban planning and environmental policy from Western Washington University. The Puget Sound region has always been her home – and she’s made it full circle by growing up in Everett and moving back last year after some time living in Bellingham and Sedro-Woolley.

  • Born in Guadalajara, Mexico; Glenda Herrera is a Business College Graduate. Her professional life started as a traffic agent in her hometown.

Glenda lived in Vancouver, Canada for three years. Married for 20 years, she is the mother of 2 children (9 and 6 years respectively) She is a constant learner, and loves to connect and help others. Glenda enjoys dancing and spending time with her family.

She is currently a member of the Mount Vernon Chamber and the Skagit Rotaract.

On Saturday mornings you can find Glenda at the studios of La Zeta 103.3 where she co-hosts a fun show for all Spanish-speaking listeners.

Skagit Gleaners has a special place in Glenda’s heart, where she used the last $100 she had in per pocket and became a member in 2014. She was new in Mount Vernon, and had no friends or relatives in the area. It was thanks to Skagit Gleaners that there was food on her family table and clothes and toys for their kids. At the time Glenda didn’t have a job and her husband was working in construction for minimum wage. Times were hard but Glenda found in the Gleaners the support her and her husband needed. She felt welcome from the beginning. Glenda still remembers Megan’s prayers on Monday mornings. She experienced the attitude of gratitude. Glenda is ready to give back to the place and community that was there for her when she needed it the most.

  • I have lived in Skagit County for almost 50 years. I am the Director of Sales for Food Services Incorporated in Mt Vernon. My whole career has been in food service in one form or another. The unbelievable waste that I have seen led me to the Gleaners, first as a donor and then as a member of the Board of Directors in 2013.
